Combined with Luigi, it comes to mean "Bad Luigi". Waluigi’s Japanese name (ワルイージ, Waruīji) is also an anagram of ijiwaru, which in Japanese means "mean-spirited", "nasty", "vicious", "cruel", and "ill-tempered". What a complex, well-thought-out character.
